Put the app on your child’s phone, tablet or watch, without sharing your password.
Your whole family uses one account. Your children don’t need their own accounts or your password: you link their phone, tablet or watch to your family’s account with a code. A linked device stays in sync with all of your family’s other devices.
Install Chores & Allowance Bot on your child’s device, open it, and tap “Link Device”.
The app shows a 6-digit code. Leave this screen open while you enter the code on your own device. The code works for 10 minutes.
On your own device, tap the Settings tab, then “Linked Devices”, then “Link a Device”.
Enter the code from your child’s device and tap “OK”.
Choose the settings for your child’s device, then tap “Save”.
Give the device a name, like “Emma’s iPad”.
Leave “Allow parental controls on this device” unchecked on a child’s device. The device then only shows what your child may do, and the parental passcode can’t unlock it. (Check it for another parent’s device.)
Under Visible Children, choose which children the device shows.
“Device Settings” changes the device’s language, appearance, notifications and more from your own device.
“Identify This Device” shows a message on the device, so you know which one it is. “Unlink Device” signs the device out of your family’s account.
Apple Watch and Wear OS watches are linked the same way: open the app on the watch to see its code. Watches are a Premium feature.
